Cloud Gallery is pleased to present Jamie Adams: Cooper's Beastiary October 7th through November 30th, 2015. Jamie Adams is a Professor of Art at Judson College, and his current show is based on the drawings of the early 20th Century type designer Oswald Cooper. His latest work is created through a complex process resulting in a drawing, a painting, and an aluminum print. Although Adams has shown extensively, this will be his first solo show in Seattle.

Also open for the art walk on Thursday November 12th, 5-9 PM

Painters have an imperfect choice between an almost alchemical love of technique or illusion.  It may be that the human mind can only think of one aspect at a time: either a painting is what it represents, or it is a fabrication done on a flat surface. These new paintings by Jamie Adams use the vernacular of typography in an attempt to think of both the surface and what seems to be behind it at once, in a twofoldness of attention that takes in both equally.

The opening reception will be held on Thursday, October 8th from 5 – 9 p.m.
A second reception will take place on Thursday, November 12th from 5 – 9 p.m

Jamie Adams received his MFA in Ceramics from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania in 2007.  He currently teaches at Judson College, AL where he is the Division Chair of Fine Arts and the Art Department Head.

Adams has previously shown nationally at the Mary Anderson Center for the Arts, Selma Arts Guild, Modern Formations Gallery, Hoyt Center for the Arts, Sweetwater Center for the Arts, Erie Art Museum, Foundry Art Center, Center for the Visual Arts, Denton, TX, Contemporary Craft Museum, Portland, OR, New Hampshire Institute of Art and the Carnegie Museum of Art. His work has received numerous awards and is included in many public and private collections.
